Cougar hunting Season
Cougar season is at its peak during the winter months of December through March, as the snow cover greatly improves the ability to follow fresh tracks, increasing the chances of a successful hunt. Your experienced guide will have the assistance of trained hounds, making the hunt a unique adventure.
Sheridan Ranch Outfitters offers hunts for all three of the cat species found in British Columbia; the Cougar, Lynx and Bobcat. Our winter cat hunts also offer the opportunity at wolf, as an incidental.
In addition to Cougar, we offer hunts for both Bobcat and Lynx. These smaller cats can be added onto the adventure for the cost of the hunting license, and once harvested, a trophy fee for each animal harvested.
Lynx hunting Season
The Canada Lynx is instantly recognizable by its tufted ears and oversized, snowshoe-like paws. Adults typically weigh between 18–30 lbs and measure about 30–40 inches in length. Populations are stable in our area, offering excellent opportunities for hunters who want to pursue this secretive northern predator.
Bobcat hunting Season
The bobcat is North America’s most widespread wildcat. Adults generally weigh 15–35 lbs and measure 25–40 inches in length, with a distinctive short “bobbed” tail. Bobcat populations are abundant in our region, making for a high-success hunt with plenty of action. These cats are sharp-eyed and crafty, which makes harvesting one an exciting challenge suited to hunters of all ages and abilities.
Hunting Regulations and Opportunities
For those seeking the thrill of Cougar hunting, we offer the unique opportunity to harvest two Cougars during your expedition. However, in line with sustainable hunting practices and regulations, only one of these can be a mature male. The second must be a management tom (a younger male) or a barren female, ensuring the health and balance of the cougar population in our area.
